The venue sits three miles west of downtown Castle Rock, just off PH10 (Postal Highway 10) in northern Cowlitz County, only minutes off Interstate 5. From I-5, take the Castle Rock exit and follow PH10 west — total drive time from the freeway is just a few minutes despite the rural, forested feel of the property. Alder Grove’s location off I-5 in Castle Rock makes it accessible from across the region. Approximate drive times: 1 hour from Portland OR and Vancouver WA, 15 minutes from Longview and Kelso, 90 minutes from Olympia, 2 hours from Tacoma and Seattle, and about 1 hour from Portland International Airport (PDX). The venue is roughly 30 miles southwest of Mount St. Helens via State Route 504 (Spirit Lake Memorial Highway).

The land Alder Grove now occupies was the Crosby Family Christmas Tree Farm for generations — a working family farm that brought fresh holiday trees to Pacific Northwest families every December. The Crosby family produced a legacy video in 2018 called “Trip to the Crosby Family Christmas Tree Farm” that tells the story of the farm in their own words. The mature trees, gardens, and naturalized character of the property today are the direct result of those decades of family stewardship.

Alder Grove hosts outdoor weddings, corporate retreats and offsites, private concerts and live music events, family reunions, milestone birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, rehearsal dinners, vow renewals, memorial services, graduation celebrations, and other private gatherings. The venue is fully permitted as a commercial event center.

The property comfortably accommodates events of nearly any size: weddings and seated celebrations from 25 to 300 guests, and concert or festival-style events in the open meadow at 600 or more. The ceremony lawn, reception areas, and open meadow each have flexible configurations, and the property has hosted everything from intimate elopements to large public benefit concerts. Yes. When you book Alder Grove, the property is exclusively yours for the duration of your event. We don’t run overlapping bookings, and on-site security ensures privacy from the general public throughout your gathering.

Every booking includes use of the ceremony lawn, reception areas, professionally landscaped gardens, wooded grounds, private bridal quarters, on-site catering building, on-premise lavatories, ample parking, and on-site security. Recreational amenities — including mountain biking trails, hiking paths, an available putting green, abundant lawn games, the koi ponds, and the on-property waterfall feature — are also available to your guests.

Catering and bar services are coordinated through our roster of vetted local vendors who meet the venue’s quality and licensing standards. We’re happy to discuss options if you have a specific caterer in mind.

Pacific Northwest weather is part of the charm — and the planning. Many couples and planners build a rain backup into their event design with tenting, which our rental vendors are well-equipped to provide. We’ll discuss weather contingencies during your planning process so that wet weather feels like an enhancement, not a disruption.

Peak wedding season (late spring through early fall) tends to book 12–18 months in advance. Smaller events, weekday bookings, and off-season dates are often available with shorter lead times. Reach out as early as you can to lock in your preferred date.
